The Commission is interested in finding what lessons the public sector can learn from good corporate ownership.
A key question of the new Government is around the scope and size of the state. Today, the discussion is around the future provision of core public services such as health and education. The direction of travel for the past 10 years has been towards more independent, business focussed albeit state funded, enterprises.
We are interested in exploring ways that state and municipal employers can better engage their workforce, and exploring how there can be greater public satisfaction in services that have higher degrees of employee, user and wider stakeholder engagement. In particular, can the state achieve greater accountability for the taxpayer in public services by fostering a greater sense of ownership?
